PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pithe Canthropus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirt Magurt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Canthropus comes into the arena with Pizzaman - Trippin' On Sunshine blaring out of the sound system. Pithe Canthropus had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Dirt Magurt told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Canthropus takes a body punch but keeps moving.
A head kick misses from Canthropus.
Canthropus looks to score with a jab to the body but Magurt is just out of range.

Magurt lands a big right hand that sends Canthropus crashing to the mat! Magurt stays standing though and waves Canthropus back to his feet!

It looks like Pithe Canthropus has been cut.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Magurt can do anything to dispel that myth.
Canthropus is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Magurt is trying to get back to half guard.

Canthropus taking a break here but Magurt is having none of it and regains half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Magurt is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Magurt suckers Canthropus into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Magurt is now in Canthropus's guard!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Canthropus pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Canthropus cracks Magurt with a right hand to the side of the head.
Canthropus shoots for a double leg takedown but Magurt sprawls well. He's pushed Canthropus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Magurt moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Magurt throws a low kick, looking for Canthropus's leg but Canthropus calmly moves out of range.

Canthropus takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Magurt jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Magurt cracks the inside of Canthropus's front leg.
Magurt uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Canthropus has time to react.

Magurt scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Canthropus doesn't seem bothered though.
Oh Canthropus is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Magurt drops Canthropus with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Canthropus! Magurt dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dirt Magurt!
