Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yogi Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Penci Geek!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Summer Carpenter and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Geek.
Geek looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Bear has managed to clinch.

Bear jumps guard and drags Geek to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bear wants to sweep here but Geek controlling him for the moment.
Geek must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Bear managing to control the position.

Bear has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Geek trying to control but Bear is working from the bottom.
Geek postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Geek stops Bear from standing up.
Geek won't allow Bear to sweep him here.

Bear scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Geek is looking for a sweep.
Geek takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Bear controlling from side mount.
Geek wants to control but Bear postures up.
Bear controlling the position from side mount.
Geek tries to improve position but can't.
Bear working the ground and pound from side control.
Geek takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bear gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Bear tries to free his leg and advance position but Geek is retaining full guard.

Bear lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Geek is breathing heavily.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bear's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Bear is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Yogi Bear just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Geek doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Bear counters with a shoot takedown. Geek fights it but they end up in guard.

Bear has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Bear is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Bear slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bear is pushing down on Geek's leg trying to pass to half guard. Geek is fighting to maintain full guard but Bear has managed to sneak the leg through.
Bear is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Bear works his foot free and advances to mount.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bear lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Bear breaks from Geek's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Bear lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Yogi Bear overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Yogi Bear just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Bear decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Bear's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!



Bear closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Geek did well to prevent Bear getting side control.

Bear's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Bear winds up and cracks Geek with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Bear takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Geek trying to control but Bear postures up.
Bear perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Bear is thwarting Geek's attempts to control the position.
Bear is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Geek can do to turn this around?
Bear lands strikes from half guard.
Bear keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Yogi Bear just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Bear misses with an uppercut. Geek saw that one coming.
Geek wants to clinch but Bear slips to the side

and Bear counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bear.

Geek jumps guard but Bear stands there with Geek around his waist. Geek gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Bear takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Bear pulls Geek in to control the position.

Bear kicks Geek off and gets to his feet.
Geek wants to clinch

and Bear counters by clinching up.
Yogi Bear is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Bear gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Bear thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bear forces his way into half guard.
Bear slows the pace down in half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bear connects with a nice short shot to Geek's temple.

Penci Geek has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Bear seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yogi Bear showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Bear has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
