Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Nurmi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pertti Peto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nurmi comes to the cage accompanied by Who Let the Dogs out. Peto has chosen Sabaton - Talvisota as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fernando Nurmi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pertti Peto!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peto is looking to clinch but Nurmi is avoiding it.
Nurmi throws the kick towards the body but Peto avoids it.

Nurmi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nurmi lands in his opponent's guard.

Peto throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Peto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nurmi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nurmi tries to free his leg and advance position but Peto is retaining full guard.
Peto keeping moving, preventing Nurmi from controlling successfully.
Nurmi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Nurmi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Peto's guard.
Peto wants to get back to his feet.

Nurmi is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Peto still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Peto has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Peto postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Nurmi to stand up.
Peto displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Nurmi.

Nurmi drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nurmi jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Peto is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Nurmi is controlling him.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Peto is looking to clinch.

Peto clinches up with Nurmi and pushes him back against the cage.

Nurmi blocks an elbow strike from Peto.

Peto lands an elbow that stopped Nurmi in his tracks for a moment.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Nurmi just misses with a elbow thrown towards Peto's brow.
Peto blocks the elbow strike.
Nurmi takes an elbow to the forehead.
Peto creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Nurmi's defenses.
Nurmi lands a damaging elbow.
Peto lands an elbow that stopped Nurmi in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Fernando Nurmi has been cut.

Peto throws an elbow but it misses.
Nurmi looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fernando Nurmi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nurmi goes for a takedown attempt but Peto pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Nurmi is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Peto can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peto is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Peto wants to control but Nurmi is having none of it.
Peto is trying to escape the mount.

Nurmi is working for a guillotine from mount but Peto frees his head quite easily.
Peto wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Nurmi.
Peto's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Nurmi goes for an armbar but Peto turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Peto.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Peto stands and steps away. Nurmi gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Pertti Peto will probably get the nod.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Nurmi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Peto swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Nurmi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Peto dives on top into guard.

and Nurmi counters with a single leg into guard. Peto didn't expect that.

Nurmi bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Nurmi drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Peto manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Nurmi has Peto in his guard.
Fernando Nurmi overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Peto decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Nurmi, up you get!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Peto is on top in guard.

Peto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nurmi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Peto has managed to get both his arms back between Nurmi's legs - danger averted.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Fernando Nurmi will probably get the nod.

That's time! Nurmi's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Nurmi looks to land a body kick but Peto moved away.
Peto throws a nice looking combination but Nurmi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Peto wants to clinch up but Nurmi keeps it at a distance.

Peto kicks Nurmi off and gets back to his feet.

Nurmi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Peto's guard.

Nurmi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nurmi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Nurmi creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Peto has Nurmi pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Nurmi manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Nurmi has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Peto is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Nurmi yanks on the arm and Peto is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Nurmi.
