Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carter Potter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oppolla Doc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Potter might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to THE LION SLEEPS TONIGHT. Doc has chosen Heat - The Jesus and Mary Chain as his entrance music. Oppolla Doc is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carter Potter!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Oppolla Doc!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Potter on the wrong end of a nice jab.


It looks like Carter Potter has been cut.
Doc lands a slapping body shot.
Doc blocks a jab.
Doc misses the jab.
Potter tries to move into range but Doc moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Doc with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Potter to score with a decent uppercut.
Potter dodges the punch combination from Doc.
Potter wants to clinch up but Doc keeps it at a distance.
Doc throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Doc throws a right and a left that both miss.
Potter digs a good hook to Doc's body.
Doc tries to bum rush Potter with a series of wild strikes but Potter uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Doc slips a jab and a cross from Potter.

Potter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Potter tries to land a front kick but Doc steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Potter lands a glancing blow to the side of Doc's head.
Doc misses with a straight right.
Doc misses with a double jab.
Potter lands with a right hand.


It looks like Oppolla Doc has been cut.
Doc throws a left and a right that both miss

and Potter counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Potter breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Doc rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Potter moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Potter tries to clinch there but Doc circles away.
Potter looks to land a left hand but Doc moved out of range nicely.
Doc misses with a combination
and Potter counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Doc throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Doc gets caught flat footed, as Potter shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Potter loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Potter throws a big right hand that misses.
Potter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Doc works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Potter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Potter postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Potter trying to control the position from guard on top but Doc is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Potter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Doc is trying to control but can't.
Potter thows a huge punch but Doc dodges it nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Potter lands a nice short elbow.
Potter is trying to control. Doc wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Potter is looking for a kimura here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Potter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Oppolla Doc will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Doc counters with a stiff right hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Doc scores with a sloppy right hand. Potter should have avoided that one.


Carter Potter's cut is getting worse.
Oppolla Doc seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Doc throws a looping overhand right but Potter ducks down to avoid it.
Doc misses with the combination.
Potter works the jab nicely.

Doc drops Potter with a beautiful combination! Potter stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Doc is looking for the KO!


Carter Potter's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Potter avoids a punch combination nicely.
Doc fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carter Potter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Doc cracks Potter with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Potter throws a hook but Doc avoids it easily.

Jeez, Carter Potter's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Potter has his takedown stuffed
and Potter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Carter Potter's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Oppolla Doc! Oppolla Doc retains his heavyweight title!
