PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Lucifer Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cory Forgeron (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by The Devil's Own. The crowd seem to be enjoying Forgeron's choice of entrance music: Cant be Touched by Roy Jones Jr.. Cory Forgeron will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucifer Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cory Forgeron!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Ian Loll and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Forgeron.
Forgeron tries to clinch but Johnson moves out of range.
Forgeron closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away.
Forgeron wants to clinch up but Johnson keeps it at a distance.
Johnson throws a right and a left that both miss.

Johnson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Forgeron shoots in and bounces Johnson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Forgeron must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Forgeron fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Johnson sprawls well initially but Forgeron persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Forgeron is looking to stand up but Johnson won't let him.
Johnson pulls Forgeron in close to prevent any damage.

Forgeron stands up from Johnson's guard - Forgeron perhaps looking for a knockout.

Forgeron prevents the takedown attempt.

Forgeron lands a nice shot to the body.
Forgeron drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The referee calls for Forgeron to work.

Forgeron has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Johnson rushes Forgeron and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Johnson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Forgeron clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Johnson lands strikes to the head.

Forgeron is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Forgeron really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Johnson has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Forgeron's body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Cory Forgeron will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Johnson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Forgeron closes the distance looking to clinch

and Johnson counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Johnson stands up and beckons Forgeron to join him on the feet.

Horrible takedown by Johnson or perhaps it was just good defense by Forgeron which made him look bad.

Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Forgeron pinned against the cage. Forgeron gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Forgeron bucks up and tries to throw Johnson off but instead Johnson has got his back!
Johnson slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Forgeron defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Forgeron is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Johnson lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Forgeron hold on?!
Johnson connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Forgeron to escape the position.
Johnson is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

That's time! Johnson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Forgeron throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnson's waist but Forgeron gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Forgeron off to one side.

Johnson forces Forgeron back against the cage and clinches.
Johnson on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Forgeron wants the takedown. Johnson is fighting it off but Forgeron persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Johnson's guard against the cage.
Forgeron is looking to stand up but Johnson won't let him.
Forgeron wants to stand and escape but instead Johnson has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Johnson stops Forgeron from standing up.
Johnson chips away with some ground and pound.
Johnson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Forgeron is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Johnson stands up over Forgeron, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Johnson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Forgeron wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position.

Johnson drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Johnson as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Forgeron screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Johnson! Nice submission victory there!
