PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Labont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steve Belisle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Labont might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bad Religion's Walk Away. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Belisle!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Labont sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Belisle fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Labont.
Labont really is a fat lump.
Belisle finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Belisle.

Belisle darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Labont is looking to improve his position.
Belisle wants to control but Labont is keeping him busy.
Belisle is nestled in close to Labont, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Belisle working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Belisle can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Labont is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Labont is in all sorts of trouble here.
Labont bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Labont postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Belisle is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Labont, into his guard.

Labont has his foot on Belisle's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Belisle works his way back into a safe position though.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Belisle accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Belisle uses his free foot to push down on Labont's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Labont.

Belisle throws a solid leg kick but Labont takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Belisle.
Belisle throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Belisle throws a knee to the head but misses.

Labont trying to stall but Belisle improves his position.

Labont goes for a takedown attempt but Belisle pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Belisle wants to control but Labont is keeping him busy.

Labont slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Labont avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Belisle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Labont has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Belisle has managed to get both his arms back between Labont's legs - danger averted.

Labont looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Belisle is defending well. Labont quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Belisle has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Labont celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
