Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gidian Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stone has chosen Overcome by All that Remains as his entrance music. John Evans could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Gidian Stone's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, John Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gidian Stone!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Evans, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Stone misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Evans fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Stone avoids it really well and circles away.
Stone swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A clash of legs there as Stone blocks the low kick.
Stone throws out a loose jab but Evans uses good head movement to avoid it.
Stone throws a shot to the body.
Stone ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Evans moves away.
Stone lands with a nice combination. Evans backs away looking to recover.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Evans forces Stone back against the cage and clinches.

Stone decides to pull guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Evans accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Stone working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Evans.
Stone is adopting a defensive guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that Stone has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Evans has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Stone tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Evans throwing strikes but missing.
Evans won't allow Stone to sweep him here.
Stone controlling the position.
Evans would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Evans working some strikes from top position.
Stone is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Evans thows a big elbow that misses.
Evans throws a strike but Stone rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stone postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Evans is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stone, into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Evans lands a couple of digs.
Stone keeping moving, preventing Evans from controlling successfully.

Stone has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Evans is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Stone.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gidian Stone dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


The fight stays on the outside here - Evans looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Stone loads up on a big right hand but Evans slips the punch.
Evans blocks a jab.
Evans needs to keep his hands up - Stone had a free shot at his head there.
Stone digs a good hook to Evans's body.
Evans misses with the combination.
Stone swinging wilding here.

Evans fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Stone, pushing him back against the cage.
Stone prevents Evans from breaking the clinch.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Stone in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Evans breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A low kick from Stone is predictable there
and Evans counters with a one-two to the body.
Gidian Stone seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Some wild striking there from Evans.
Some bone on bone action there as Evans checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stone connects with a nice looking jab.
Stone throws a lazy right hand but Evans sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Stone misses with an uppercut. Evans saw that one coming.
Evans uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Stone.
Stone connects with a good right hand that stumbles Evans. Evans circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Stone dances in with a quick combination. Evans is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Stone snaps Evans's head back. Evans stumbles backwards against the cage. Stone steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Evans's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Evans just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Gidian Stone!
