Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patryck Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marshall Mason could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Patryck Mendes's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marshall Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patryck Mendes!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Bruno Lombardi and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason shoots in but no luck this time.
Mendes circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mason fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Mason keeps the fight on the outside.

Mendes gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Mason breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Mendes clinches up against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Mendes fails to land.
Mason lands a hook that snaps the head of Mendes backwards.
Mason scores with a knee to the head.
Mason lands a left hand.
Mason using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Mendes has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Mason is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mendes can't fight it off and eventually Mason manages to take the fight to the floor. Mendes looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mason postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Mendes is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mason, into his guard.
Mendes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mendes drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mason looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mason looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mason!

Mason is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mendes has escaped the position, nice work there.
Mendes gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mendes trying to control here.
Mendes regains full guard. Nicely done.
Mendes trying to keep a closed guard but Mason is proving a slippery customer.
Mason is pushing down on Mendes's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mendes is fighting to maintain full guard but Mason has managed to sneak the leg through.

Mason seems to be working for a kimura but Mendes defends the submission attempt.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Mason connects with a nice short shot to Mendes's temple.
Mendes is trying to get back to full guard.
Mendes tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Mason wants to work for an arm triangle but Mendes is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mendes avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Mason.
Mendes is looking to control Mason's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mendes avoid being mounted?

Mason is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mendes is just riding it out for now. Mason eventually gives up the hold.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mendes works Mason's body with a nice hook.
Mason tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mendes swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Mendes tries to pass to full mount but Mason defends it.

Mendes throws a big right hand that misses.

That was a close round but I would say that Marshall Mason will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mason cracks Mendes with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

and Mendes counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mason!

Mason is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Mason is working to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mason sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Patryck Mendes showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mason is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mendes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mendes's back!
