PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Phi Cho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Reams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reams comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Rock you like a Hurricane kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Phi Cho could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Tim Reams's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Phi Cho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Reams!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reams slips a jab from Cho.
Cho tries to clinch there but Reams circles away.
A combination from Cho does no damage.
Reams connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Cho swats away the attempt to clinch by Reams.
Cho tries to clinch but Reams moves out of range.
Reams lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Reams attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
A big right from Cho misses.
Reams swinging wildly here.
Cho checks a leg kick.
Reams doesn't manage to clinch there - Cho circles away.
Cho tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reams paws at him with a jab and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cho moves in looking to clinch but Reams pushes him off.

Cho scores with a hook to the body.
Reams working hard to break the clinch.

Cho ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cho no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Reams wants to control from the top but Cho keeps moving.
Cho manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Reams manages to get himself to full guard.

Reams can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cho controls the pace.
Reams is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Cho's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Cho stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reams swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Reams looking for a sweep. Not yet Reams, not yet.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Cho missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Cho pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Reams is keeping the position for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Reams lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Cho connects with a looping right hand.

Cho moves into the clinch.
Reams working hard to break the clinch.
Cho cracks Reams with a nice body shot.
Reams being controlled against the cage.
Reams has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
A left hand lands to the body for Cho.
Reams tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Cho just stands there and leans against the cage.
Reams is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Reams throws a knee to the head but misses.

Cho manages to break the clinch.
Reams circles away from the clinch attempt.
Reams lands a body shot.

Cho fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Reams, pushing him back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cho escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Reams tries to keep at a distance but Cho has taken the fight into the clinch.

Cho pulls Reams into guard.
Reams content to stall in guard here.
Reams trying to control but Cho is working from the bottom.
Cho bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Reams's guard.
Cho wants to pass the guard but Reams is keeping the position.
Reams wants to sweep here but Cho controlling him for the moment.
Reams is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cho trying to control but Reams is working from the bottom.

Reams is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Reams can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cho controls the pace.
Reams not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Cho is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Cho stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reams swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Reams swats away the attempt to clinch by Cho.
Reams throws a good cross that connects.

Reams gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Reams trying to keep a closed guard but Cho is proving a slippery customer.
Cho pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Reams is keeping the position for now.

Reams manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Reams keeps the fight on the outside.
Cho tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Reams paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Reams tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Cho just misses with a punch to the body.

Cho gets a takedown into half guard.
Well, if Cho is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Cho has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Reams wants to improve his position but Cho is controlling well.
Cho tries to pass to full mount but Reams defends it.
Reams trying to control but Cho postures up.
Cho passes into side control, despite Reams's attempt to control the position.
You can see the frustration on Reams's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cho on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Reams fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Cho darts in and clinches Reams up against the cage.

Cho ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cho no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cho holds on and takes a little breather.

Reams tries to free his leg and advance position but Cho is retaining full guard.
Cho is pulling down on Reams's head. It's preventing any offense from Reams, at least for the moment.

Reams wants to control from the top but Cho keeps moving.
Cho is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Reams throws a sloppy head kick and Cho moves out of range easily.
Reams throws a combination. Cho tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Cho wants to clinch up but Reams keeps it at a distance.

Reams looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Cho takes the fight into the clinch.
Reams is looking to control Cho's arms but Cho gets an underhook and turns him. Now Reams has his back to the cage.
Reams prevents the takedown attempt.
Cho is pushing Reams up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Cho successfully pulls guard.
Reams's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Cho trying to control the position here.
Reams thows a big elbow that misses.

Cho wants to hit a switch here but Reams passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Cho there!
Cho is trying desperately to improve position.
Cho is squirming around, avoiding Reams's attempts to control the action.
Reams is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Cho really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Tim Reams has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cho taking shots to the head.
Cho is desperately trying to improve his position but Reams has a good base and remains in mount.
Reams can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cho is looking to escape.
Cho tries to reverse the position but Reams maintains control.
Reams tries to control but Cho wriggling away.

Cho working to try and regain half guard.
Phi Cho is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Cho tries to hold on but Reams pushes him away.
Cho is squirming around, avoiding Reams's attempts to control the action.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Reams prevents Cho from getting the reversal.
Reams can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cho is looking to escape.
BOOM! Reams connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Reams cracks Cho with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Cho tries to hold on but Reams pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Cho is desperately trying to improve his position but Reams has a good base and remains in mount.
Cho is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Reams has hold of Cho's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Cho manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

And that's the end of the fight!
Tim Reams comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Cho has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
