Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Redd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent Volkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Redd might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to We Will Rock You. Volkov is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Trooper by Iron Maiden. Jake Redd could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Vincent Volkov's chin.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Vincent Volkov!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, William Gold and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Redd gets the takedown into side control.
Volkov tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Who's going to make the next move?
Volkov is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Redd off and has taken his back!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Redd wants to escape the position.
Redd manages to reverse the position and now he's in Volkov's guard. Nice work there by Redd.
Volkov is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Volkov is trying to control the position but Redd postures up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Volkov wants to control but Redd is keeping him busy.

Redd is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Volkov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Redd is controlling him.
Volkov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Redd accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Redd won't allow Volkov to sweep him here.
Volkov controls Redd momentarily but Redd frees himself.

Redd trying to control but Volkov is working from the bottom.
Volkov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Redd fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Redd misses with a takedown attempt - Volkov sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Redd checks a leg kick.
Volkov throws a jab when Redd was well out of range.
No luck for Redd with that takedown attempt.
Redd shoots in for a takedown but Volkov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Redd avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A punch combination from Volkov misses.
Volkov tests Redd's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like Jake Redd has been cut.
Redd closes this distance looking for a takedown but Volkov circles away.
Redd gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Volkov tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Redd paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Volkov just misses with a punch to the body.
Redd gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Volkov.
Volkov throws a hook but Redd blocks it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Redd.
The fight stays on the outside here - Volkov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Redd uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Volkov.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vincent Volkov showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Jake Redd's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



Redd shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Redd trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Redd throws a sloppy strike and Volkov uses the opportunity to reverse the position! A bit of a scramble here and Volkov has ended up in Redd's guard.

Redd working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Volkov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Volkov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Volkov trying to control the position from guard on top but Redd is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Redd is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Volkov defends well.

Volkov wants to pass the guard but Redd is keeping the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Redd is looking for a triangle but Volkov pushes his legs off easily.

Redd has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Volkov is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Redd.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Redd gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Volkov content just to control the position here.

Volkov prevents Redd from getting the reversal.
Volkov controlling the pace for now.
Volkov looking to finish Redd with some ground and pound. This is bad for Redd!
Redd is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Redd bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Jake Redd has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Redd is fighting to break Volkov's control of his arms but Volkov is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Vincent Volkov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jake Redd.
I think Volkov has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
