PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Conleth Adonis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Conleth Adonis told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Nash!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Conleth Adonis!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Lou da Vinci and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nash throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The fight stays on the outside here - Nash looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Adonis misses the jab.
Nash is looking to clinch but Adonis is avoiding it.
Adonis throws a hook to the side of Nash's head but Nash sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nash moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Adonis pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Adonis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Adonis tries a head kick but it misses.
Adonis misses with a low kick.
Adonis takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Adonis loads up on a big right hand but Nash slips the punch.
Adonis throws a sloppy head kick

and Nash counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Nash trying to control but Adonis is working from the bottom.
Nash missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Adonis trying to keep a closed guard but Nash is proving a slippery customer.
Adonis keeping moving, preventing Nash from controlling successfully.
Nash has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Nash in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Nash blocks a head kick by Adonis.
Nash tries to clinch up but Adonis circles away and keeps his distance.
Adonis throws a leg kick that misses.
A combination from Nash does no damage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Nash lands a jab.

Adonis is rocked!
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Adonis lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Nash has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Nash and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Adonis is still on wobbly legs! Can Nash finish him?

Nash closes the distance looking for a takedown. Adonis stuffs it but Nash still has hold of him. Nash picks Adonis up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Nash slams Adonis to the floor and that's really hurt Adonis - he doesn't know where he is! Nash throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Nash!
