The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A right-left combo lands from Horvat.

Horvat closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Horvat lands in his opponent's guard.
Horvat wants to control from the top but Liukkonen keeps moving.
Horvat throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Liukkonen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Horvat avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Liukkonen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Horvat!

Liukkonen looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Horvat tries to improve his position but instead Liukkonen has taken his back!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Horvat shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Liukkonen's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Horvat jumps guard and drags Liukkonen to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Horvat had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Liukkonen defends it easily.
Liukkonen pushing down on Horvat's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Horvat pushes Liukkonen off and gets back to his feet.
Liukkonen doesn't manage to clinch there - Horvat circles away.
Horvat digs a good hook to Liukkonen's body.

Horvat shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Liukkonen napping and manages to drive through into side control!
