Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jefferson Steelflex (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Equinox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steelflex comes to the cage accompanied by Why Can't We Be Friends?. John Equinox is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Steelflex closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Steelflex lands in his opponent's guard.
Steelflex stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Equinox swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Steelflex has gone for a leg lock! Equinox slips out almost immediately though and dives into Steelflex's guard.
Steelflex keeping moving, preventing Equinox from controlling successfully.

Steelflex working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Equinox has passed into half guard!
Steelflex wants to control the action here but instead Equinox manages to pass to full mount!

Steelflex tries to reverse the position but Equinox maintains control.
Equinox trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Steelflex could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Equinox prevents Steelflex from getting the reversal.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Steelflex is working hard here to advance position.
Steelflex sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Steelflex is breathing heavily.
Equinox trying to control from half guard but Steelflex is working away.
Equinox wants to pass to mount but Steelflex is defending the position.

Equinox stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Steelflex fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Equinox throws a right and a left that Steelflex avoids nicely.
Equinox misses with a wild combination.
Equinox misses with a straight left.
