Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jerome Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ross Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harris comes to the cage accompanied by The Clash - Rock the Casbah. Ross Woods acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jerome Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Ross Woods!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods lands a nice looking body kick.
Woods tries to land a front kick but Harris steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Harris's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Harris duly obliges.


It looks like Ross Woods has been cut.
Woods tries to close the distance and clinch but Harris swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Woods throws a combination that misses
and Harris counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Woods throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Harris blocks the body kick.
Woods walks into a left hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Woods falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Harris to counter with a crisp jab.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Woods.
Woods swings away with a body shot that misses
and Harris counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Woods thows a left - swing and a miss!
Harris lands a right hook to the body.
Woods looks gassed!
Woods tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Harris counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Woods thinking.
Woods throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Harris holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Woods can't break the clinch.
Harris prevents a body shot from Woods.
Harris lands with a right to the head.
Woods tries to land knees in the clinch but Harris avoids the damage to the body.
Woods takes a shot to the head.
Woods's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Harris lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Woods or not.

Harris lands a takedown into guard.
Harris looking to pass the guard.
Harris passes into half guard.
Harris controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Harris has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Harris is pressing down on Woods's thigh, looking to free his foot. Woods is holding on for now.

Woods really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Harris. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Harris is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Harris is looking to pass Woods's guard but actually Woods recovers to full guard.
Harris wants to pass the guard but Woods is keeping the position.
Woods can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Harris controls the pace.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

A left and a right from Harris both land. Nice combination.
Ross Woods is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Harris tries to move into full mount but can't pass Woods's legs.
Harris works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
A lull in the action here as Harris stalls from top position.

Woods seems a little lost for a moment, as Harris dominates the positioning.
Harris wants to take a breather but Woods manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Harris.
Harris loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Harris tries to free his leg and advance position but Woods is retaining full guard.
Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Woods is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Woods wants to stand up but Harris is controlling him.
Harris looking to sit in guard and control but Woods gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jerome Harris just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Woods wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
A nice right hand lands inside from Harris.
Harris leaning against his opponent.
Harris makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.


That has opened up Ross Woods's cut even more.
Woods tries to break the clinch but Harris is controlling the position.
Woods is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
With the fighters up against the cage, Woods throws an elbow but misses.

Harris gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Woods avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Harris.
Harris not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Harris wants to lay and pray for a moment but Woods keeps working.
Harris sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Woods defending well though.

Harris is working for a submission of some sort.
Harris trying to control from half guard but Woods is working away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Woods misses with a combination

and Harris counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Harris postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Woods is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Harris, into his guard.
Harris is adopting a defensive guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Harris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Woods gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Harris controls Woods momentarily but Woods frees himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Harris throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Woods trying to stand up but can't free himself from Harris's guard.
Harris looking for a sweep. Not yet Harris, not yet.
Harris manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Harris controlling the position easily from mount.
Harris won't let Woods get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Harris looking to ground and pound but Woods is blocking nicely.
Ross Woods has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Woods blocking the ground and pound.
Harris controlling from the full mount.
Harris wants to control the pace but Woods is squirming around nicely.
Jerome Harris is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Harris looking to finish Woods with some ground and pound. This is bad for Woods!

Well Harris has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
