Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kron Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rafael Santos is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kron Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rafael Santos!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos throws a right and a left that both miss.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Santos as he avoids it easily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Santos lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Gracie shoots in and drives through. Santos sprawls well.
Santos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Decent striking displayed by Santos there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie shoots for a double leg takedown but Santos sprawls well. He's pushed Gracie's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kron Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie throws a sloppy head kick
and Santos counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Santos counters with a two punch combo.
Santos scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Gracie doesn't seem bothered though.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gracie shoots and misses
and Santos counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gracie throws a left and a right that both miss

and Santos counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Santos with the ground and pound but Gracie uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Santos is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Santos throwing strikes but missing.
Santos throws a strike but Gracie rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Santos trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Santos is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gracie slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gracie throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Santos works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Santos looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Gracie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Santos is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rafael Santos dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gracie misses with a takedown
and Santos finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Santos tries for a takedown but Gracie circles away easily

so Gracie counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Santos wants to hit a switch here but Gracie passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Santos there!
Santos wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

Santos tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Santos is in all sorts of trouble here.

Gracie is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Santos has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Santos!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gracie seems keen to control Santos's posture.

Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Santos defends easily.
Santos looking to pass the guard.

Santos postures up in Gracie's guard and throws a big left but Gracie blocks it.

Santos tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
Santos won't allow Gracie to sweep him here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Santos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Santos throws a strike but Gracie rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Gracie looking to sit in guard and control but Santos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Santos cracks Gracie with a solid left hand.
Gracie lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Santos!
Santos throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kron Gracie dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Gracie doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Santos counters with a head kick.
Gracie misses with a takedown
and Santos cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Nice uppercut lands for Santos. That snapped Gracie's head back.

Santos gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Santos doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Santos looking for a sweep. Not yet Santos, not yet.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Santos keeps moving.

Gracie drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Santos manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gracie has Santos in his guard.
Santos missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Santos postures up.
Santos loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Gracie trying to control the position.
Santos thows a big elbow that misses.
Gracie looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Santos must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Santos accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Santos throws a body punch but Gracie moves out of range.

Gracie scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Santos has a hand on Gracie's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Gracie takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Santos is desperately trying to improve his position but Gracie has a good base and remains in mount.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight!
Kron Gracie showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Gracie has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
