Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gaiden Shinji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincent Lontrame (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Lontrame's choice of entrance music: Rocket Skates by The Deftones. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lontrame gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Shinji.
Lontrame shoots in for a takedown but Shinji shows good takedown defense.
Lontrame moves out of range as Shinji strikes.
Lontrame ducks under a wild hook from Shinji.
Lontrame lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Lontrame.
Lontrame is looking to clinch.
Lontrame shoots for a double leg takedown but Shinji sprawls well. He's pushed Lontrame's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Shinji scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Lontrame doesn't seem bothered though.

Shinji lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A punch lands to the side of Lontrame 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Lontrame looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Shinji is fending him off so far but Lontrame persists. Nope, Shinji circles away and we're back to standing.

Lontrame tries for a takedown but Shinji sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Shinji lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Shinji throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lontrame on the side of the head.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Lontrame has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Shinji finds it's way round the side to connect with Lontrame's head.

Shinji swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Lontrame.
Lontrame drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Lontrame is pushing down on Shinji's leg trying to pass to half guard. Shinji is fighting to maintain full guard but Lontrame has managed to sneak the leg through.
Shinji tries to get to full guard but Lontrame has control of the leg.
Lontrame is breathing heavily.
Lontrame looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Shinji with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Lontrame is trying to control. Shinji wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Lontrame is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Shinji has managed to free his arm - good work.
Shinji on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shinji tries to get out of the position.
Lontrame is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Lontrame decides to return to a standing position.
Lontrame swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Shinji counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lontrame thinking.
Lontrame keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Shinji misses with a hook. Lontrame ducked under it nicely.

Lontrame uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shinji.

Shinji throws a looping overhand right but Lontrame ducks down to avoid it.

Lontrame shoots in for a double leg but Shinji sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Lontrame ducks right into an uppercut from Shinji.
Shinji swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Shinji is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Shinji stuffs the takedown attempt from Lontrame. Lontrame gets slowly back to his feet.
Shinji throws a hook but Lontrame blocks it.
Lontrame dives in and grabs Shinji's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shinji pushes down on Lontrame's head and hops out.

Lontrame drops back looking for a leg! Shinji is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shinji manages to kick Lontrame off! Lontrame jumps back into Shinji's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shinji has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Lontrame is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Shinji is looking to stand up but Lontrame isn't so interested in that idea.
Vincent Lontrame has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lontrame trying to control the position from guard on top but Shinji is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Lontrame drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Shinji throws a hook but Lontrame avoids it easily.
Lontrame tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gaiden Shinji is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Lontrame misses with a double jab
and Lontrame takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Shinji, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
