Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Layfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fedor Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Fedor Gracie enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mark Layfield!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fedor Gracie!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Reed Andrews and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Layfield.
Gracie works Layfield's body with a nice hook.
Layfield has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Layfield bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Layfield goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gracie rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Layfield's guard! Nice work there by Gracie!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Layfield is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Layfield has a closed guard, preventing Gracie from standing up.
Gracie is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Gracie wants to stand and escape but instead Layfield has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Layfield trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Layfield wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.
Layfield looking to sit in guard and control but Gracie gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gracie would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Layfield wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment.
Layfield manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Gracie should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Layfield throws some wild stikes that Gracie manages to avoid easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gracie is squirming around, avoiding Layfield's attempts to control the action.

Layfield working for a submission but Gracie is keeping him at bay.

Layfield jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Gracie is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Gracie and Layfield has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Gracie defending against the ground and pound.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Layfield is looking to take a break and control but Gracie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Layfield is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Gracie has escaped the position, nice work there.
Layfield trying to control the action but Gracie is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fedor Gracie dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Gracie looks to score with a jab to the body but Layfield is just out of range.
Layfield fails with a takedown attempt.

Layfield looks for a takedown but Gracie sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Layfield. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Layfield on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Gracie tries to bum rush Layfield with a series of wild strikes but Layfield uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Gracie lands a nice looking body shot.
The fighters circle momentarily. Gracie darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Gracie lands a big uppercut and Layfield crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Layfield looks OK. Gracie waves Layfield back to his feet!


Layfield is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gracie lands with a precision combination! Left, right, uppercut and Layfield falls flat on his face, eyes wide open but he's out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Fedor Gracie!
