PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alphons Draclau (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cristiano Halo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Cristiano Halo was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alphons Draclau!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cristiano Halo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Halo.
Nice body kick there by Halo.
Draclau takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Halo thumps Draclau with a low kick.
Halo takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Halo throws a head kick that half lands.

Draclau shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Halo napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Halo is looking for a sweep.
You can see the frustration on Halo's face as Draclau controls the position.
Halo is looking to regain half guard here but Draclau keeps moving and retains side control.
Draclau is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Halo's shoulder. That is not cool.

Draclau connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Halo some visible discomfort.
Halo seems a little lost for a moment, as Draclau dominates the positioning.
Halo tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Draclau remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
You can see the frustration on Halo's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Halo is looking for a sweep.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Halo tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Draclau wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Draclau seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Halo tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Draclau has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

That was a close round but I would say that Alphons Draclau will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Halo looks to land a body kick but Draclau moved away.
Cristiano Halo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Draclau counters with a nice double leg into side control. Halo won't be happy with that.

Draclau has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Alphons Draclau just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Halo gets off balance looking for a body kick

and Draclau decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Halo's guard.
Draclau stays in close to Halo's body and controls the position.

Halo has an active guard here but Draclau has managed to pass into half guard.

Draclau is nestled in close to Halo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Halo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Draclau defends it easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Halo manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Halo moves into full guard.

Halo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Draclau is aware though and is defending well.
Draclau has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Halo is breathing heavily.
Draclau seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Halo throws a half hearted mid kick.
Halo turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

and Draclau counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Halo!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Draclau cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Draclau takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Halo is working to get back to half guard.
Cristiano Halo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
BOOM! Draclau connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Halo tries to reverse the position but Draclau maintains control.
Draclau takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Halo is working to get back to half guard.

Halo is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Draclau controlling the pace for now.

Alphons Draclau overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Halo sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Well, if Draclau is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Draclau, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
