The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ukkonen moves out of range of the strikes.
Okko Ukkonen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Spatz takes one to the chin there.
Ukkonen wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Spatz doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Ukkonen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Spatz!
Spatz flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Spatz is in all sorts of trouble here.

Ukkonen jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Spatz manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Spatz is trying to control Ukkonen's posture but Ukkonen avoids it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Spatz wants to improve his position but Ukkonen is controlling well.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Spatz kicks off Ukkonen and gets to his feet.
Ukkonen throws out a loose jab but Spatz uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ukkonen slips under a jab from Spatz.
Ukkonen connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Spatz moves away from the strike by Ukkonen.
Spatz fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Spatz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Ukkonen.
Ukkonen takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Ukkonen throws a shot from downtown. Spatz moves away and avoids it.

Ukkonen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Spatz manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Spatz is not content to let Ukkonen control the position.

Ukkonen has hold of Spatz's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Spatz seems comfortable defending it but Ukkonen has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Spatz is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Spatz is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Ukkonen couldn't care less - he's delighted!
