PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Harry Wang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fyodor Pending (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wang moves in looking to clinch but Pending pushes him off.
Wang tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Wang rushes Pending and presses him up against the cage.
Pending should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Wang's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Pending gets caught flat footed, as Wang shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Wang has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Pending looking for a guillotine here but Wang defends easily.
Pending trying to keep a closed guard but Wang is proving a slippery customer.

Pending looking for subs off his back but Wang has passed one foot through into half guard.

Wang is pressing down on Pending's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pending is holding on for now.
Pending tries to roll over but Wang keeps him under control.

Wang decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Pending, up you get!

Pending tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Wang has hold of one of Pending's legs. Pending is fighting the takedown attempt but Wang gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Pending is trying to keep Wang in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wang stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pending swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pending has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Wang doesn't defend quickly enough and Pending has managed to lock this one up! Can Wang escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Pending on a fantastic submission victory.
