Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Pharaoh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doc Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thomas has chosen Lunatic Fringe by Red Ryder as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Steve Pharaoh!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Doc Thomas!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Bruno Lombardi and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pharaoh shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Thomas is trying to defend but Pharaoh finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Pharaoh is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Pharaoh is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Thomas is defending against the submission attempts here by Pharaoh.

Pharaoh is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Thomas doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Pharaoh.

Thomas manages to get to full guard.
Pharaoh advances position into side control!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Pharaoh tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Thomas has control of Pharaoh's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Pharaoh regains control of the situation pretty easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Thomas throws the left hand but Pharaoh avoids the punch easily.
Thomas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pharaoh manages to avoid it.
Pharaoh slips a straight right by Thomas.

Pharaoh decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Pharaoh swings around for an armbar but Thomas sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pharaoh's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thomas throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

A looping hook to the body misses from Thomas. Pharaoh does a little dance to reset his feet.

It looks like Doc Thomas has been cut.
Thomas checks a leg kick nicely.
No joy there for Thomas, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pharaoh slips under a jab.
Pharaoh takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Thomas throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Steve Pharaoh will probably get the nod.

Pharaoh misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Pharaoh with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Thomas to score with a decent uppercut.

Thomas looks to land a strike but Pharaoh avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pharaoh looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Thomas has picked Pharaoh up and slammed him! Pharaoh can't keep hold of the triangle and Thomas manages to pass to side control!

Pharaoh had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thomas defends it easily.
Thomas is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Thomas throws a strike but Pharaoh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Pharaoh tries to free his leg and advance position but Thomas is retaining full guard.
Pharaoh wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving.
Thomas looking to hit a scissor sweep but Pharaoh is one step ahead there.

Thomas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pharaoh is aware though and is defending well.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Thomas isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Pharaoh stacks Thomas on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Pharaoh!
Thomas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Pharaoh is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Thomas is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Pharaoh wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Thomas, who protects the arm well.

Pharaoh goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Thomas rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Pharaoh's guard! Nice work there by Thomas!

Thomas connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Doc Thomas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt.

Pharaoh pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Thomas will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pharaoh throws a front kick aimed at Thomas's knee but Thomas avoids it well.
Pharaoh shoots in for a takedown but Thomas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Pharaoh counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Thomas slaps away a takedown attempt from Pharaoh, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Thomas swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pharaoh takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Pharaoh pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Thomas counters with a stiff right hand.
Thomas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pharaoh moves away.

And that's the end of the fight!
Doc Thomas comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Thomas has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
