The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Bruno Lombardi and John Roberts.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Irons shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mason pinned against the cage. Mason gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Mason jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Irons manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Irons throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mason's waist but Mason gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Irons off to one side.

Mason changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Irons looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Irons kicks Mason off and gets back to his feet.

and Mason counters with a nice double leg into side control. Irons won't be happy with that.

Irons trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Mason has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
