Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert York (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert York!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from York does no damage.
York lands with a nice combination. Johnson backs away looking to recover.

York rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

York will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Johnson. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

York closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Johnson to the mat! Johnson manages to get full guard.

Johnson has his foot on York's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. York works his way back into a safe position though.

Robert York showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

York lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Johnson backs up against the cage.

Johnson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now York is on top in guard.

York not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in York's guard.

Johnson has gone for a leg lock! York slips out almost immediately though and dives into Johnson's guard.

Let's hope that York has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

York perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Johnson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. York is working away from the top position though.
York seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

York moves nicely into side control.

Despite being in the dominant position, Robert York just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Robert York is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

York tries to bum rush Johnson with a series of wild strikes but Johnson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Well York has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
