Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Efrain Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shawn Rua is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Despite being in the dominant position, Shawn Rua just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Silva paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Silva stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Silva wants it to stay on the feet.

Silva will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Rua throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Silva's head.
Silva misses with a double jab

and Rua counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rua stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Silva to get to his feet.
Silva throws a left and a right that both miss

and Rua counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that.
Rua wants to stand but Silva is controlling his arm.
Rua looking to control but instead Silva has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva looks like he's trying to stand up.

Silva is refusing to be controlled, as Rua sits in half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Rua closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silva circles away.
Silva closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Rua clinches.

Rua manages to break the clinch.
Rua fails with an attempt to clinch.

Rua shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Silva manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Rua stops Silva from standing up.

Rua looking to sit in guard and control but Silva gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
