Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between JP Alcano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shinichi Yanagida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Shinichi Yanagida was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
12 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, JP Alcano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinichi Yanagida!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alcano lands a jab to Yanagida's midsection.
Yanagida fails with the takedown.
Yanagida closes the distance and clinches up with Alcano, looking for a takedown. Yanagida pushes Alcano against the ropes but Alcano circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Alcano scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Yanagida scores a takedown into full mount!
Yanagida jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Alcano is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Alcano and Yanagida has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Alcano is looking to regain half guard here but Yanagida keeps moving and retains side control.
Yanagida tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Alcano is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Yanagida is trying to get an arm triangle but Alcano is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Alcano's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yanagida is looking for a choke. Alcano gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Alcano manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Alcano tries to free his leg and advance position but Yanagida is retaining full guard.
Alcano wants to control from the top but Yanagida keeps moving.
Alcano won't allow Yanagida to sweep him here.
Alcano slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Alcano wants to pass the guard but Yanagida is defending well.
Yanagida wants to get back to full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Yanagida goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Yanagida misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
JP Alcano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shinichi Yanagida.
Yanagida looks gassed!
Yanagida avoids the head kick by Alcano.
Shinichi Yanagida seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alcano throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Alcano lands with a nice combination. Yanagida backs away looking to recover.
Alcano is looking to slow Yanagida down with leg kicks.

Nice takedown defense from Alcano. No joy for Yanagida on that attempt.

Yanagida fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Alcano manages to avoid it.

and Alcano counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alcano throws a head kick that half lands.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
JP Alcano dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.

Alcano connects with the punch.

and Yanagida takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Yanagida is still on wobbly legs! Can Alcano finish him?
Alcano rushes Yanagida with punches - Yanagida moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Yanagida goes down! Alcano follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). JP Alcano!
