PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Charles Harrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harrison comes to the ring accompanied by East London Rap - Wha we a bout . Johnson has chosen Voodoo People as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Thomas Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson rushes Harrison and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

Johnson breaks the clinch.

Johnson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Harrison sprawls well initially but Johnson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Johnson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Harrison with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Harrison moves into full guard.
Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Harrison is retaining full guard.
Johnson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Harrison is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Johnson stands up and waves to Harrison to follow him.
Johnson lands a right hook to the body.
Johnson throws a half hearted mid kick.

Johnson clinches up against the ropes.

Johnson tightens his grip and picks Harrison up, before dumping him to the ground. Harrison manages to land in guard.

Harrison is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Harrison had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Johnson defends it easily.

Johnson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Harrison rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Johnson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Johnson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Harrison sprawls well. Harrison wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet.
Johnson lands with a nice combination. Harrison backs away looking to recover.

Charles Harrison is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Johnson is defended easily by Harrison.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Harrison.
Nice uppercut lands for Harrison. That snapped Johnson's head back.
Harrison misses with a hook. Johnson ducked under it nicely.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Harrison has hold of Johnson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Johnson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Harrison can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Johnson is looking to escape.

Johnson is squirming around, avoiding Harrison's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Harrison tries to push Johnson's head away but Johnson is holding on tight.
Johnson tries to buck Harrison off but he can't manage it.

Johnson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Thomas Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Johnson closes the distance and pushes Harrison back into the ropes.

Johnson is looking to take a break and control but Harrison is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Johnson is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Harrison knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Johnson misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Harrison wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working.

Johnson tries to buck Harrison off but Harrison is having none of it.
Harrison tries to move into full mount but can't pass Johnson's legs.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Harrison tests Johnson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Johnson shoots in but no luck this time.
Johnson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Johnson avoids a punch combination nicely.

Nice takedown defense from Harrison. No joy for Johnson on that attempt.
Charles Harrison has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thomas Johnson.

Thomas Johnson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Harrison throws a nice looking combination but Johnson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
