Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Don Puncharello (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Dance Hall Days. Marcus Jones has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Don Puncharello's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Puncharello!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Jones!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puncharello throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The fighters circling - Jones throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
A slow jab from Jones misses its intended target.
Jones slips a jab and a cross from Puncharello.
Puncharello throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Puncharello lands with a right hand.
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Puncharello avoids it really well and circles away.
The fighters circling - Jones throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt - Puncharello sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Jones stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Puncharello works over Jones's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Marcus Jones has been cut.

Puncharello throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it.

Puncharello jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Puncharello tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Puncharello to the ground. Puncharello escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Puncharello looks to land a left hand but Jones moved out of range nicely.
Jones throws out a loose jab but Puncharello uses good head movement to avoid it.
Jones takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Puncharello bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Puncharello connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jones. Jones circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Puncharello.

Jones closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jones lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Jones is pushing down on Puncharello's leg trying to pass to half guard. Puncharello is fighting to maintain full guard but Jones has managed to sneak the leg through.

Jones is trying to control the action in half guard but Puncharello is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jones is just content to waste time from the top position. Puncharello takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jones won't allow Puncharello to sweep him here.
Jones is looking to work some ground and pound but Puncharello has wrist control.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jones on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Puncharello makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Puncharello.

Jones throws and elbow that misses. Puncharello uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Puncharello!

That was a close second round but I would say that Don Puncharello will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Jones shoots in looking for a takedown. Puncharello tries to sprawl out of it but Jones keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Puncharello manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Jones throws a hook but Puncharello avoids it easily.
Puncharello bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Puncharello ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Jones throws a jab but it's blocked by Puncharello.
Jones lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Puncharello lands a nice shot that snaps Jones's head back.
Jones takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Puncharello throws a push kick but Jones slaps the foot to one side.
Marcus Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Puncharello cracks Jones with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Puncharello which made him look bad.
Jones tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Puncharello swivels and escapes.

Puncharello throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Jones stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Puncharello rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jones moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Jones dips to his left and cracks Puncharello with an uppercut!
Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jones might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Jones loads up on a big right hand but Puncharello slips the punch.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Puncharello tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Puncharello to the ground. Puncharello escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Puncharello comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

And that's the end of the fight!
Don Puncharello showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Puncharello, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
