Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yogi Bear (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mr Fists (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yogi Bear had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yogi Bear!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mr Fists!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fists clobbers Bear with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Fists fails to land with a series of punches.
Bear takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


Bear is rocked!
Fists uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bear.
Bear attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Fists moves out of range as Bear strikes.
Fists shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bear defends it nicely.
Nice shot lands for Bear.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fists swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bear keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Fists takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Bear scores a takedown into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fists is desperately trying to improve his position but Bear has a good base and remains in mount.

Bear is landing with some decent strikes but Fists is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Bear content just to control the position here.
Fists sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Fists is looking for a sweep. Bear is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fists tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

Fists regains full guard. Nicely done.
Bear slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Bear postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Fists looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Bear passes into side control.
Bear is staying tight to Fists's torso, preventing him from escaping.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fists is working to avoid the ground and pound but Bear connects with a decent elbow.
Fists taking a bit of punishment here - Bear scoring with strikes.
Bear slows the pace down.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Yogi Bear.
Bear throws a combination. Fists tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Fists throws a left and a right that both miss
and Bear counters with a nice uppercut.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Yogi Bear will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Fists tries to clinch but Bear moves away

so Bear counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bear is stalling in the full guard.
Bear might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Fists is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Bear tries to free his leg and advance position but Fists is retaining full guard.

Fists is looking for a triangle but Bear pushes his legs off easily.
Bear stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fists swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Bear with a flurry of punches that miss.
Bear trying to control but Fists is working from the bottom.
Bear is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Fists looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Fists fails to land with a series of punches.
A big right from Bear misses.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bear shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Fists is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bear distracts Fists with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Fists is looking for a triangle but Bear pushes his legs off easily.
Fists being controlled here, momentarily.
Bear trying to control the position from guard on top but Fists is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Fists wants to sweep but no luck.

Bear passes Fists's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Fists is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Fists manages to get to full guard.
Fists tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bear postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Fists had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bear defends it easily.
Fists is breathing heavily.
Bear looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Bear got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fists has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bear has managed to get both his arms back between Fists's legs - danger averted.
Fists wants to stand and escape but Bear is having none of it.
Fists keeping moving, preventing Bear from controlling successfully.
Bear controls from within his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Yogi Bear dominated that second round.
That's time! Bear's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Fists misses with a takedown

and Bear counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Fists!
Bear controlling the pace for now.
Fists is desperately trying to improve his position but Bear has a good base and remains in mount.
Fists swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
Fists tries to reverse the position but Bear maintains control.
Bear lands a nice shot to the head.
Fists keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Fists takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fists throwing hammer fists to the chest of Bear. What's that going to do exactly?

Bear lands a heavy elbow.
Fists flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Fists manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Yogi Bear overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Bear passes the guard and advances to mount!
Fists is in a horrible position here. Bear smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Mr Fists has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bear has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Fists's face.
Fists sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Fists is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bear in particular looking to stall.
Bear prevents Fists from improving his position.

Bear not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Fists has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bear can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Bear has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bear, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
