Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alex Voss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Duke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Duke!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Voss shoots in but no luck this time.
Voss fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Duke avoids it really well and circles away.
Duke scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Voss feints and as Duke raises his hands in defense, Voss changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Voss postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Duke is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Voss, into his guard.
Duke must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Duke advances to half guard.

Voss is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Duke pulls his head out easily.
Voss tries to get to full guard but Duke has control of the leg.
The fighters are battling for position here. Voss manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Duke wants to control from the top but Voss keeps moving.

Voss on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Voss tries to get out of the position.

Voss had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Duke defends it easily.

Duke stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Voss swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Duke lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Duke.

Duke works over Voss's head and body with a nice combination.
Duke lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Voss circles away quickly and effectively.
Duke misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Duke looks to land a combination but Voss avoids it well.

Voss shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Duke is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Voss pulls his head out easily.

Voss decides to stand up.
Duke will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Duke is refusing to be controlled, as Voss sits in half guard.
Voss wants to stand up but Duke has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Voss is breathing heavily.

Voss is trying to work for a kimura but Duke is defending well.

Voss looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Voss tries to stand and escape but Duke actually recovers to full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Voss got a little sloppy there for a moment and Duke has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Voss has managed to get both his arms back between Duke's legs - danger averted.

Duke is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Voss would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

A close round but Tommy Duke will probably get the nod.

Duke leaves Voss with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Duke throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Voss.
Voss takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Voss closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Duke did well to prevent Voss getting side control.

Voss drops back, looking for a kneebar! Duke looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Duke looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Duke!
Voss is not content to let Duke control the position.

That's time! Voss's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Duke swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Duke sizes up Voss with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Voss shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Duke as he jumps to the side.
Voss closes the distance and clinches up with Duke, looking for a takedown. Voss pushes Duke against the cage but Duke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Voss dives in and grabs Duke's left leg, looking for a takedown. Duke pushes down on Voss's head and hops out.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duke paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
The fight stays on the outside here - Voss looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Voss shoots in for a double leg but Duke sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Voss takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
