PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stan Richard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mbala Ubuntu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richard comes to the cage accompanied by In Ashes They Shall Reap. Ubuntu has chosen Hohodza as his entrance music. Mbala Ubuntu is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stan Richard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mbala Ubuntu!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ubuntu moves forwards but Richard connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Ubuntu shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Richard as he jumps to the side.
Ubuntu fails with a takedown attempt.
Richard scores with a jab to the jaw.
Ubuntu changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Richard tries to avoid it but Ubuntu manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Richard to the ground. Richard escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Stan Richard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mbala Ubuntu.
Ubuntu tries for a takedown but Richard sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Richard scores with a one two! Ubuntu had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

It looks like Mbala Ubuntu has been cut.

Richard clinches up with Ubuntu and pushes him back against the cage.

Ubuntu controlling the action here for a moment.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Richard creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Richard is pressed up against the cage. Ubuntu has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Richard down to the mat. Richard avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Richard lands with a kick to the temple. Ubuntu shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Ubuntu dodges the punch combination from Richard.
Richard throws a shot to the body.

Richard drops Ubuntu with a beautiful combination! Ubuntu stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Richard is looking for the KO!

Ubuntu is rocked!
Richard throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ubuntu stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ubuntu is still on wobbly legs! Can Richard finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Richard feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Ubuntu crashing to the mat! This one is all over!
