The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Horvat blocks a jab.
Horvat ducks under a wild hook from Gomez.
Gomez ducks right into an uppercut from Horvat.

Errol Gomez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Horvat shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gomez's guard.
Horvat advances position into side control!
Gomez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Horvat. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Horvat thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Gomez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Horvat cranks the arm and Gomez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Gomez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
