Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mini Me (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregory Mankiw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mini Me has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Mini Me!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gregory Mankiw!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Me throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mankiw paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Me tries to clinch up but Mankiw circles away and keeps his distance.

Mankiw closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mankiw lands in his opponent's guard.
Mankiw is stalling in the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mankiw wants to control from the top but Me keeps moving.

Mankiw is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Me is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Me has escaped and now he's on top!
Mankiw bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Me's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mankiw in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Mankiw stops Me from standing up.
Mankiw wants to control from the top but Me keeps moving.
Mankiw throws a big right hand that misses.
Me is looking to stand up but Mankiw isn't so interested in that idea.
Mankiw throwing strikes from guard but Me blocks nicely.
Me wants to get back to his feet but Mankiw is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Me on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Me tries to get out of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Mankiw wants to control from the top but Me keeps moving.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Me tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mankiw paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Me ducks under a wild hook from Mankiw.
Me just misses with a punch to the body.
Mankiw slips under a jab.
Mankiw tries to score a power double leg takedown but Me sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mankiw somewhat.
Mankiw moves away from the strike by Me.
Mankiw swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Me counters with a stiff right hand.
Mankiw ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mankiw shoots in and drives through. Me sprawls well.
Mankiw connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Me's hands.
Me lands with a right hand.
Mankiw avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Me tries to close the distance and clinch but Mankiw swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mini Me seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Me clinches up against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Mankiw.
Mankiw pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Me takes a shot to the head.
Me lands a shot to the body.
Me pushes Mankiw back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Mankiw pushes off an throws an elbow but Me leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Me throws a head punch that misses.

Mankiw has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Me uses from the top position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mankiw is on top in guard.
Me wants to get back to his feet but Mankiw is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Mankiw throws and elbow that misses. Me uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mankiw's guard. Nice move by Me!
Mankiw tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Mankiw had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Me defends it easily.
Me postures up.
Mankiw looking for a sweep. Not yet Mankiw, not yet.
Mankiw is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gregory Mankiw dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Mankiw closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Mankiw happy to just control the position for now.
Me is trying to buck Mankiw off.
Mankiw working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Mankiw thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mankiw throws a strike aimed at the side of Me's head but Me avoids it well.

Mankiw swings around for an armbar but Me sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Mankiw's guard.
Me has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Mankiw wants to control but Me passes easily into half guard.
Mankiw flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Mankiw is looking for a sweep. Me is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mankiw is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Me jumps into side control!

Me decides to stand back up. Me steps back and let's Mankiw get back to his feet.
Mankiw throws a nice outside leg kick.
Me misses with an uppercut.
Mankiw drops his hands momentarily and Me takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.


It looks like Gregory Mankiw has been cut.
A punch combination from Me misses.
Mankiw scores with a sloppy right hand. Me should have avoided that one.
Me fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mankiw manages to avoid it.
Me tries to clinch there but Mankiw circles away.
Me fails in his attempt to clinch.
A right-left combo lands from Me.
A left and a right from Mankiw both land. Nice combination.
Mini Me is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Me looks to land a combination but Mankiw avoids it well.
Me tries to clinch up but Mankiw circles away and keeps his distance.
Mankiw wants to slow Me down by chopping away at his legs.
Mankiw circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mankiw fails to land with a series of punches.
Me dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mankiw connects with a crisp jab.
Me looks to land a right hand but Mankiw moved out of range.
Me waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Mankiw.
Me scores with a hook to the body. Mankiw takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Me moves into the clinch.
Mankiw drops down looking for an ankle pick but Me pulls his leg out and moves away.
Mankiw shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Me but Me pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mankiw is breathing heavily.

Me tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Me misses with a body punch

and Mankiw decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Me's guard.
Me wants to stand but Mankiw is controlling the position.
Mankiw throws and elbow that misses. Me uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mankiw's guard. Nice move by Me!

Mankiw is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Me would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Gregory Mankiw will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Me avoids the body shot from Mankiw.
Mankiw lands a jab to the head.
Me connects with a crisp jab.
Mankiw circles away from the clinch attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mankiw is defended easily by Me.
Me on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
No luck for Mankiw with that takedown attempt.
Me tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mankiw waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Me.
Mankiw thows a body shot but no joy.
Jab, jab by Me - just one landing.

Me works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Me closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Me moves away from the strike by Mankiw.

Me gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Mankiw jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Me walks away with a smile on his face. Mankiw gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Mini Me has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gregory Mankiw.

Me rushes Mankiw and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Me lands with a right to the head.

Mankiw manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Mankiw not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mankiw is working an open guard so Me takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Me tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Mankiw counters with a right hand to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mankiw. Me does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mankiw fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Me ducks under a wild hook from Mankiw.

Me clinches up with Mankiw and pushes him back against the cage.
Mankiw tries to pull guard but Me won't allow it.
Me blocks an elbow strike.
Mankiw throws a head punch that misses.
Me pushes Mankiw back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Mankiw takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Me throws a punch but it's blocked by Mankiw.
Mankiw tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mankiw tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Me smiles and moves away.
Mankiw misses with a takedown attempt - Me sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Me connects with a good right hand that stumbles Mankiw. Mankiw circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Mankiw scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Me throws a series of strikes that have Mankiw backpedaling.
Mankiw shoots in looking for a takedown. Me tries to sprawl out of it but Mankiw keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Me manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Me tries to clinch there but Mankiw circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mankiw scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

Me has taken the fight to the clinch.
Mankiw has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Me is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Me misses with some punches.
Me lands a left hand.
Me throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mankiws head.
Mankiw drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Me gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mankiw is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Me lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Good body shot from Me.
Nice body punch from Me.
Me makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Me lands an uppercut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Me lands a right hand.


Mankiw is rocked!
Me misses with a short punch on the inside.
Mankiw is still on wobbly legs! Can Me finish him?
Me swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Me misses with a punch on the inside.
Mankiw seems to have recovered his senses.
Mankiw throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Me is leaning against Mankiw and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Me lands an uppercut.
Me lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Me lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Mankiw or not.
Me pushes Mankiw back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Me unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Mankiw! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Me is unloading with more strikes now! Mankiw drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mini Me!
Mini Me is the new featherweight champion!
