PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between D J Rich (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Segata Sanshiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanshiro has chosen Sega Satan! as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, D J Rich!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Segata Sanshiro!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Alexandre Firmino and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rich shoots in and gets a takedown into Sanshiro's guard.
Rich is pushing down on Sanshiro's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sanshiro is fighting to maintain full guard but Rich has managed to sneak the leg through.

Rich is working for a submission of some sort.
Rich works his way into side control.

Rich looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Rich lands a few punches from side control.

The strikes coming from Rich are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Sanshiro managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Rich.

Rich tries for a kimura but Sanshiro is defending well.

Rich swings around for an armbar but Sanshiro sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rich's guard.

Rich is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rich has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Rich is breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Rich working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sanshiro doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sanshiro manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Rich throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Sanshiro escapes and throws Rich's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rich is trying to force a seperation but Sanshiro has the dominant position.

Segata Sanshiro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Sanshiro moves out of range of the strikes.
Sanshiro tries to close the distance and clinch but Rich swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Rich shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Sanshiro is trying to defend but Rich finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Rich wants to take a breather but Sanshiro is having none of it.
Sanshiro is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Sanshiro is trying to stand back up but Rich is controlling him

Rich tries to pass to full mount but Sanshiro defends it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Rich is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sanshiro doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rich.

Rich pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sanshiro is keeping the position for now.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The fight stays on the outside here - Sanshiro looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
D J Rich is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rich misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Sanshiro tries to clinch but Rich is having none of it.
Rich dives in and grabs Sanshiro's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sanshiro pushes down on Rich's head and hops out.
Rich shoots for a double leg takedown but Sanshiro sprawls well. He's pushed Rich's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for D J Rich. That's going to take a lot out of him.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sanshiro keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Rich's efforts to push away.
Rich wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
