PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pad Digger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey Borneo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pad Digger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joey Borneo!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Summer Carpenter.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Borneo misses with a series of wild punches.
Digger shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Digger tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Borneo swivels and escapes.
Digger throws a low kick but Borneo avoids it.
Digger falls off balance throwing a combination
and Borneo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Borneo tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Borneo misses with an uppercut.
Digger takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Borneo walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Digger checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Digger takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Borneo throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Digger's head.
Borneo moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Digger fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Borneo sprawls well initially but Digger persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Borneo is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Digger pulls his head out easily.

Borneo is looking for a triangle but Digger pushes his legs off easily.
Digger looking to sit in guard and control but Borneo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Borneo would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Digger tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Digger pulls Borneo in close to prevent any damage.
Digger is trying to control the position but Borneo postures up.
Digger is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Digger is trying to control the action in half guard but Borneo is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Borneo pushes Digger off but Digger dives into side control.

Digger looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Borneo is looking to reverse the position.
Borneo defending against the ground and pound.
Digger misses with the ground and pound.
Digger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Borneo keeps working.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Borneo wants to control but Digger postures up.
Digger scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Borneo to see if he's OK.

Digger is trying to get an arm triangle but Borneo is defending well.

Digger wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Borneo, who protects the arm well.
Digger is putting a hurting on Borneo here, landing some big shots from side control.
Digger wants to take a breather but Borneo manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Digger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pad Digger dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Borneo ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Digger shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Borneo's guard.

Digger wants to control from the top but Borneo keeps moving.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Digger keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Borneo's head.

Digger connects with a couple of short punches.
Borneo working a defensive guard but Digger manages to pass into side control anyway.
Borneo on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Borneo can't do much from the bottom here.
Digger lands a nice forearm strike.

Borneo is rocked!
Digger lands a strong strike to the head of Borneo. That's dazed him! Digger looking to finish here. Borneo is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Digger lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
