The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karlsen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Speedman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Karlsen.
No luck for Karlsen with that takedown attempt.
Tugg Speedman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kim Karlsen.
Speedman lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Karlsen shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Speedman defends it nicely.
Speedman dips to his left and cracks Karlsen with an uppercut!

It looks like Kim Karlsen has been cut.
Karlsen tries to close the distance and clinch but Speedman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Karlsen shoots in but no luck this time.
Karlsen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Karlsen looks gassed!
A nice combination there by Speedman.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Horrible takedown by Karlsen or perhaps it was just good defense by Speedman which made him look bad.
Speedman lands a jab to the nose.

Karlsen with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Speedman to score with a decent uppercut.
Karlsen fails in his attempt to clinch.
Karlsen shoots for a double leg takedown but Speedman sprawls well. He's pushed Karlsen's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Karlsen takes one on the button.
Speedman scores with the left hand. Karlsen knows he should have avoided that one.
Speedman's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Speedman duly obliges.

Speedman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Karlsen napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Speedman has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Karlsen is trying to work for a sweep but Speedman has mounted him!

Speedman wants to finish this one by submission but Karlsen is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Speedman.
