The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maria throws a head kick that misses.
Maria scoring well with a low kick there.
Maria misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Maria scores with a head kick. Kukuev tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

It looks like Nikolai Kukuev has been cut.

Maria gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kukuev to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kukuev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maria swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kukuev drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Maria dives on top into guard.

Kukuev pushes a forearm under Maria's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Maria is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
