Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dwight Elkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Elkins comes to the cage accompanied by Care Bear Countdown. Liddell is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Just Another Victim by Helmet & House of Pain. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dwight Elkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kurt Liddell!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell blocks a leg kick.
Liddell moves out of range of the body kick.

Elkins tries to sprawl but Liddell drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Liddell throwing shots but Elkins is blocking nicely.
Liddell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Liddell misses with a head shot. Elkins uses the momentum to regain guard.
Liddell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Elkins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Elkins looking to hit a scissor sweep but Liddell is one step ahead there.
Liddell wants to pass the guard but Elkins is keeping the position.
Liddell throws a big right hand that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Elkins has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

We're going to have a standup here because Dwight Elkins wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Elkins bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
A solid leg kick lands there for Elkins.
Both fighters circling a little - Elkins finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
A nice inside leg kick there by Elkins. That's going to slow Liddell down.
Liddell looks gassed!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Elkins.
Elkins fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Elkins keeps Liddell at a distance using the push kick.

Horrible takedown by Elkins or perhaps it was just good defense by Liddell which made him look bad.

Elkins throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Liddell.
Elkins turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Elkins fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Liddell.
Elkins connects with a leg kick. Liddell looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Elkins shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Liddell pinned against the cage. Liddell gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Elkins throws a head kick but Liddell moves out of range.

A swing and a miss from Liddell.
A nice leg kick lands there from Elkins.
Elkins dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Liddell. That did some damage!
A slapping leg kick lands for Elkins.
Elkins connects with a solid leg kick.
Elkins punishes Liddell's body with a nice straight punch.
Elkins with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Liddell takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Elkins lands a leg kick that knocks Liddell off balance momentarily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Liddell takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Elkins lands a nice leg kick that just misses Liddell's sensitive parts.
Liddell's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Elkins scoring well with a low kick there.
Elkins clobbers Liddell with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Elkins scores with a nice body kick.
Good leg kick by Elkins there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Liddell has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Elkins.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Liddell keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Liddell blocks a head kick by Elkins.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Elkins drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Elkins looks up at the clock and then as Liddell takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Elkins smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Liddell sneaks back into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Elkins is looking for a kimura but Liddell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Elkins to get the leverage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Liddell is trying to get back to full guard.

Elkins is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Liddell is just riding it out for now. Elkins eventually gives up the hold.
Liddell is trying to control but can't.
Elkins is nestled in close to Liddell, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Elkins is looking to work some ground and pound but Liddell has wrist control.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Elkins postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Liddell pulls Elkins in close to prevent any damage.
Elkins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Liddell is keeping the position for now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Elkins accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Elkins postures up and lands a big shot to Liddell's brow.
Elkins is looking to work some ground and pound but Liddell has wrist control.

Liddell is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Elkins is pressing down on Liddell's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Elkins's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Elkins is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Liddell can do to turn this around?

and Elkins counters with a body kick that stops Liddell in his tracks momentarily.

Elkins shoots in for a double leg but Liddell sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Liddell shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Elkins scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Elkins fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Elkins throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Elkins closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Elkins trying to control the action but Liddell is working from the bottom.
Liddell takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Elkins postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Elkins in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Liddell is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
