PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brent Robertson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and marley sabu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). sabu has chosen pure hatred as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Brent Robertson has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Brent Robertson seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson slips a jab and a cross from sabu.

Robertson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Robertson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Robertson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
sabu regains half guard there - taking advantage of Robertson's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Robertson is nestled in close to sabu, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

sabu is staying active underneath Robertson, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Robertson moves nicely into side control.
Robertson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear sabu down.

It looks like Robertson is going to stand back up.

Robertson decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Robertson shoots in looking for a takedown. sabu tries to sprawl out of it but Robertson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. sabu manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Robertson tries to clinch but sabu is having none of it.
sabu defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Robertson.
Robertson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

sabu will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Robertson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. sabu looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Robertson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but sabu is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Robertson decides to stand up, so the ref orders sabu to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Robertson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Robertson dodges the punch combination from sabu.
sabu fails to land with a series of punches.
sabu lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Robertson circles away quickly and effectively.
sabu looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

marley sabu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
sabu scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Robertson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Sloppy strikes from sabu. Those never looked like landing.
sabu rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Robertson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Robertson tries to close the distance and clinch but sabu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Horrible takedown by Robertson or perhaps it was just good defense by sabu which made him look bad.
