Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Brandao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenichi Shirahama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Shirahama's choice of entrance music: Fade To Black. On his way into the ring it seems that Ramon Brandao has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Ramon Brandao seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ramon Brandao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kenichi Shirahama!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandao throws out a loose jab but Shirahama uses good head movement to avoid it.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shirahama.
Brandao misses with an uppercut.
Brandao fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Donk. Brandao catches Shirahama right on the button with a cross.

Shirahama tries to sprawl but Brandao drives through with a takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shirahama wants to improve his position but Brandao is controlling well.
Brandao wants to free his trapped foot but Shirahama is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Brandao not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Brandao tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

Brandao perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Brandao is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shirahama sees it coming and defends easily.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Brandao seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Brandao is taking a breather. Shirahama says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Shirahama regains full guard. Nicely done.
Brandao slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Brandao would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ramon Brandao wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Brandao closes the distance and clinches.
Shirahama tries to pull guard but Brandao holds him up against the ropes and eventually Shirahama drops back down to his feet.
Shirahama changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Brandao fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Ramon Brandao has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenichi Shirahama.
Brandao throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Shirahama.
Horrible takedown by Shirahama or perhaps it was just good defense by Brandao which made him look bad.
The crowd cheers as Brandao lands an impressive looking overhand right. Shirahama doesn't seem phased though.
Brandao fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shirahama manages to avoid it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Brandao is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Shirahama blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Shirahama goes for a takedown attempt but Brandao pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Brandao throws a lazy right hand but Shirahama sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brandao lands with a nice body punch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ramon Brandao dominated that round.
That's time! Brandao's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Brandao throws a looping overhand right but Shirahama ducks down to avoid it.

and Brandao counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Shirahama thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brandao's head.

Brandao is trying to stand up here but Shirahama is controlling him well.

Shirahama is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Shirahama wants to advance to full mount but Brandao doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Brandao regains full guard. Nicely done.
Shirahama trying to control the position from guard on top but Brandao is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Brandao has his foot on Shirahama's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shirahama works his way back into a safe position though.

Shirahama is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Shirahama maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Brandao could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Shirahama has cracked it and Brandao is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Shirahama!
