Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ron James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Bush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ron James has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Bush!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Jonathan Paton and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James has a takedown stuffed.
Bush circles away from the clinch attempt.
James lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bush circles away quickly and effectively.
James scores with a sloppy right hand. Bush should have avoided that one.
Bush darts in trying to clinch

and James counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bush's guard now.
James is stalling in the full guard.
James wants to pass the guard but Bush is keeping the position.

Bush utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
James stopping the sweep attempt from Bush.
James postures up in Bush's guard and throws a big left but Bush blocks it.
James trying to control but Bush is working from the bottom.
James landing with the ground and pound.
James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Bush avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
James looking to sit in guard and control but Bush gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Bush wants to control from the top but James keeps moving.
James looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bush passes James's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
James won't allow Bush to pass to mount.

James is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Bush pulls his head out easily.

James is looking to control Bush's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can James avoid being mounted?
Bush tries to stand but can't do so whilst James controls his leg.

Bush is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
James trying to hold on to Bush's head to control him but Bush postures up.
Bush wants to pass to mount but James is defending the position.
James wants to control but Bush is keeping busy.
Bush wants to lay and pray for a moment but James keeps working.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
James wants to get back to full guard.
James is working hard here to advance position.

Bush is looking for a kimura here.
James is refusing to be controlled, as Bush sits in half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
James is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

James looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ron James dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


James throws a shot from downtown. Bush moves away and avoids it.

James drives through and clinches with Bush against the cage.
The referee calls for James to work.
Bush trying to control the position but instead, James has worked for underhooks and has pushed Bush into the cage.
Bush lands a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

James lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
James thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bush's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bush pushes James off looking to stand but James dives back in and keeps control.

James is looking for a kimura but Bush is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for James to get the leverage.
James throwing shots but Bush is blocking nicely.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

James looking to sit in guard and control but Bush gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

James is looking to regain half guard here but Bush keeps moving and retains side control.
Bush throws an elbow but James slips to the side and avoids it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James can't do much from the bottom here.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
James gets back to half guard.

Bush looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Bush passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for James!
James sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bush performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ron James will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!



James closes the distance and pushes Bush back into the cage.
A hook to the body from James.
Bush is trying to break free.
James crunches a lovely knee into Bush's ribcage.
Bush goes for a takedown attempt but James pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Bush takes one on the chin but seems OK.
James cracks a nice hook into Bush's ribs.
James throws a lazy body kick

and Bush counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

James gets full guard.
Bush looking to pass the guard.
Bush takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
James is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
James is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
James lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Bush!
James is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Bush can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

James trying to control but he's not successful this time.
James lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
James throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

James unloads with some shots from mount but Bush bucks and avoids them well.

Bush in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Bush keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
James misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Ron James is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Bush wants to control but James is having none of it.
Jay Bush has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well James has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
