PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior Lewis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Tower (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lewis comes to the cage accompanied by Fort minor Ft. 50 Cent&Eminem - Remember the name Remix. Junior Lewis has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Junior Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Tower!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tower takes a swing at Lewis's ribcage but misses.
Lewis keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Tower.

Lewis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Lewis trying to control the position from guard on top but Tower is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tower pulls Lewis in close to prevent any damage.
Tower wants to stand but Lewis is controlling the position.
Tower controlling the position.
Lewis won't allow Tower to get back to his feet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Tower swings for the body but Lewis moves out of range.
Tower throws a lazy right hand but Lewis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Lewis connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Tower momentarily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tower throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tower takes a swing at Lewis's ribcage but misses.
No joy there for Tower, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lewis misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Tower.
Tower tries to bum rush Lewis with a series of wild strikes but Lewis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tower misses the shot to the body.
Lewis shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Tower defends it nicely.
Lewis shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tower as he jumps to the side.
Tower thows a left - swing and a miss!
Tower misses the body punch
and Lewis counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lewis fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lewis moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Paul Tower seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tower takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Tower misses with a hook.
Tower throws a left and a right that both miss
and Lewis counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Tower misses with a body shot
and Lewis counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Tower misses with the combination.
Lewis fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Tower.
Tower looks gassed!

Lewis gets the takedown into side control.
Lewis trying to control the action but Tower is working from the bottom.

Tower trying to remain calm as Lewis controls from the top position.

Lewis is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Tower will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Tower is not content to let Lewis control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Junior Lewis wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Tower looks to throw the jab but Lewis is out of range.
Lewis connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Tower's hands.
Lewis feints and then cracks Tower's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Tower down.
Tower throws a combination that misses
letting Lewis counter with a right hand.
Tower misses with a combination
and Lewis counters with a thumping low kick.
Lewis lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Lewis, as that shot connected.
Tower smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Good standup being displayed there by Tower as he connects with a hook.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Lewis dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lewis slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Tower throws a predictable looking body shot
and Lewis finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Lewis slips under a jab from Tower.
A big left from Tower misses.
Tower loads up on a big right hand but Lewis slips the punch.
Tower missing with a left hand there. Lewis was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Lewis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Tower quickly recovers to half guard.
Lewis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tower does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

and Lewis counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Lewis moves out of range of the strikes.
Lewis moves into range and connects with a jab.
Lewis just misses with a punch to the body.
Tower throws a right hand that Lewis ducks under and follows up with a left that Lewis also avoids with ease.
Tower misses with a double jab
and Lewis counters with a nice low kick that buckles Tower's knee momentarily.
Tower is breathing heavily.
Nice defenses there by Lewis.
Lewis swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Tower.

and Lewis counters with a good, hard body kick but Tower shrugs it off.

Tower fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lewis manages to avoid it.

Lewis shoots in and bounces Tower off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Lewis wants to pass the guard but Tower is keeping the position.

Tower looking for a sweep. Not yet Tower, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tower keeping moving, preventing Lewis from controlling successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Lewis is really struggling to control Tower but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Lewis won't allow Tower to sweep him here.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Junior Lewis wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Junior Lewis is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lewis moves out of range as Tower strikes.
Lewis dodges the punch combination from Tower.
Lewis tries to work over Tower's front leg with a kick but Tower checks it.
Tower swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

Tower takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Lewis connects with a crisp jab.

and Tower takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lewis.
Lewis remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Lewis is trying to control. Tower wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Lewis wants to stand but Tower has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Lewis is trying to control. Tower wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Lewis perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Lewis is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Junior Lewis is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lewis throws a front kick aimed at Tower's knee but Tower avoids it well.
Lewis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

And that's the end of the fight!
Junior Lewis showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Lewis has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
