PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Fabricio Valesquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Blacksheep (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Valesquez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to "Ratamahatta" by Sepultura. Blacksheep has chosen Primo victoria as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valesquez shoots and misses
and Blacksheep counters with a stiff right hand.
Blacksheep throws a leg kick but Valesquez sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Blacksheep lands a head kick!
Nice shot lands for Blacksheep.
Blacksheep throws a head kick but Valesquez moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A swing and a miss from Valesquez.
Blacksheep motions for Valesquez to come forward. Blacksheep throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
A head kick from Blacksheep lands but Valesquez takes it in his stride.

Blacksheep tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Valesquez paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Blacksheep throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

and Valesquez counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Blacksheep!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blacksheep is working to get back to half guard.

Blacksheep wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Valesquez.

Valesquez is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Blacksheep can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Valesquez jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Blacksheep is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Blacksheep and Valesquez has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Valesquez goes for an armbar but Blacksheep turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Blacksheep.
Valesquez wants to sweep here but Blacksheep controlling him for the moment.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Kenny Blacksheep is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Blacksheep counters with a stiff right hand.
Valesquez sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Blacksheep throws a sloppy head kick and Valesquez moves out of range easily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Blacksheep feints and then cracks Valesquez's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Valesquez down.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Valesquez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Blacksheep is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
