The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spartan with a lazy takedown attempt

and Jenkins counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Spartan is pressing down on Jenkins's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jenkins engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Jenkins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Spartan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jenkins has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Spartan thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Jenkins cracks Spartan with a solid left hand.

Jenkins thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Jenkins postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Jenkins stands and throws Spartan's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Jenkins wants to control but Spartan is keeping him busy.

Spartan is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Jenkins breaks from Spartan's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Jenkins tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Spartan seems to have recovered his senses.

Jenkins with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Spartan tries to hold on but Jenkins pushes him away.
