Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jakub Kochanowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimbo Te Mako (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jakub Kochanowski had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jakub Kochanowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimbo Te Mako!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Te Mako bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kochanowski is trying to improve his position.
Kochanowski gets back to half guard.
Kochanowski wants to improve his position but Te Mako is controlling well.
Kochanowski wants to control but Te Mako is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Te Mako tries to pass to full mount but Kochanowski defends it.

Kochanowski looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Te Mako is trying to work for a kimura but Kochanowski is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Te Mako wants to take a breather but Kochanowski is having none of it.
Kochanowski is looking for a sweep. Te Mako is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kochanowski is refusing to be controlled, as Te Mako sits in half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jimbo Te Mako.

Kochanowski lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Te Mako!

Kochanowski is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Te Mako has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Te Mako tries to lock up and control but Kochanowski gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Kochanowski swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Te Mako is now in Kochanowski's guard. A big mistake from Kochanowski there, giving up the dominant position!

Kochanowski is looking for a triangle but Te Mako pushes his legs off easily.
Kochanowski tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kochanowski utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kochanowski is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Kochanowski is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Kochanowski thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Te Mako wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimbo Te Mako dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kochanowski with a lazy takedown attempt

and Te Mako counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Kochanowski is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Te Mako pulls his head out easily.
Te Mako throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Te Mako looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Te Mako thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Te Mako is trying to control the action in half guard but Kochanowski is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Kochanowski wants to control but Te Mako is keeping busy.

Jimbo Te Mako has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Te Mako drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Kochanowski trying to keep a closed guard but Te Mako is proving a slippery customer.

Kochanowski working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Te Mako doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Te Mako manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Te Mako throws a big right hand that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Te Mako accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Te Mako stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kochanowski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Te Mako thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kochanowski not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Te Mako drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Te Mako jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kochanowski looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kochanowski is on top in guard.

Kochanowski drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Te Mako manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Kochanowski has Te Mako in his guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Kochanowski is on top in guard.
Kochanowski stands and throws Te Mako's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Te Mako tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kochanowski wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Kochanowski working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Kochanowski is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Te Mako knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Te Mako is trying to control Kochanowski's posture but Kochanowski avoids it.

Kochanowski tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kochanowski has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Kochanowski is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Te Mako knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Jimbo Te Mako showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Kochanowski sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Te Mako scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Kochanowski to see if he's OK.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jimbo Te Mako hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Kochanowski is looking to clinch but Te Mako is avoiding it.

Kochanowski tries to close the distance and clinch but Te Mako swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Te Mako throws a body punch but Kochanowski moves out of range.

and Te Mako counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kochanowski won't be happy with that.

Kochanowski wants to control but Te Mako is keeping busy.
Kochanowski blocking the ground and pound attempt from Te Mako.
Te Mako throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Jimbo Te Mako is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Kochanowski tries to get to full guard but Te Mako has control of the leg.

Te Mako is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kochanowski is just riding it out for now. Te Mako eventually gives up the hold.

Jimbo Te Mako comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Te Mako has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
