The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newton slips a jab and a cross from Nawrocki.
Newton wants to clinch.

Nawrocki shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Newton manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Nawrocki controls from within his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Newton is trying to keep Nawrocki in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Piotr Nawrocki wasn't doing enough on the ground.

and Newton makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Nawrocki really felt that one!
Newton lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Newton bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Newton shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nawrocki's guard.

Nawrocki has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Newton off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Nawrocki will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Nawrocki is looking to wear down Newton with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Newton tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

A head kick from Newton lands but Nawrocki takes it in his stride.

Nawrocki has hold of Newton's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Newton tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Nawrocki cranks the arm and Newton screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Newton, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
