Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jay Cometa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jay Cometa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson connects with a jab.
Johnson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Cometa.
Johnson throws a nice looking combination but Cometa bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Johnson throws a right and a left that Cometa avoids nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Johnson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cometa has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Johnson.
Johnson lands with a good body shot.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cometa paws at him with a jab and circles away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cometa stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Cometa tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Johnson presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Johnson stalks Cometa and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cometa's face. Cometa staggers backwards, shaken.

Cometa's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Johnson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cometa scrambles back to his feet.

Cometa is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Johnson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Cometa looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Cometa moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Johnson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Cometa backs up against the cage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
