Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Birdman Lugz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Birdman Lugz has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Birdman Lugz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Joe Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lugz tries to avoid it but Jackson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lugz to the ground. Lugz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lugz.
Lugz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Jackson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Jackson advances to half guard.
Jackson wants to pass to mount but Lugz is defending the position.
Jackson is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Jackson is working for a submission of some sort.

Jackson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Joe Jackson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Lugz gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Jackson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Birdman Lugz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jackson stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Lugz moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Jackson moves into the clinch.
Lugz tries for a takedown but Jackson manages to get underhooks.

Jackson pulls guard effortlessly.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jackson seems keen to control Lugz's posture.

Jackson pushes Lugz off and gets back to his feet.
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Lugz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nice takedown defense from Lugz. No joy for Jackson on that attempt.
Jackson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jackson wants it to stay on the feet.

and Jackson counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Jackson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Jackson pushes down on Lugz's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Jackson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lugz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Jackson escapes and gets back to his feet.
Jackson fails to land the takedown.
Lugz is looking to clinch.

Jackson keeps the fight on the outside.
Lugz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jackson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Jackson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Lugz to the mat! Lugz manages to get full guard.
Lugz controls Jackson momentarily but Jackson frees himself.

Jackson drops back looking for a leg! Lugz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lugz manages to kick Jackson off! Jackson jumps back into Lugz's guard.
Jackson looks gassed!
Jackson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Jackson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Jackson looks for a takedown but Lugz sprawls well.
Lugz wants to clinch.
Jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Lugz tries to sprawl out of it but Jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Lugz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lugz avoids the head kick by Jackson.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lugz lands a two punch combo.
Lugz misses with a kick to the body.
Lugz tries to clinch but Jackson moves out of range.
No luck for Lugz with that takedown attempt.

Jackson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Lugz did well to prevent Jackson getting side control.

Jackson is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Jackson is taking a breather. Lugz says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Joe Jackson has got the better of the ground game so far.
Jackson tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jackson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lugz's face.

Lugz is trying desperately to improve position.
Jackson landing punches.
Jackson scoring with strikes but Lugz is staying in there.
Jackson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Jackson cracks Lugz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Jackson throws a series of punches but Lugz moves out of range.

Lugz wants to clinch up but Jackson keeps it at a distance.

and Jackson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Lugz's guard now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Jackson is keen to just control but Lugz is a slippery customer.

Jackson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Lugz kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Jackson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jackson.

and Jackson counters with a single leg into guard. Lugz didn't expect that.

Jackson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jackson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Jackson stands and steps away. Lugz gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Lugz sprawls well. He's pushed Jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Jackson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lugz avoids it really well and circles away.
Lugz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jackson pinned against the cage. Jackson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jackson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Birdman Lugz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
