Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maurice Irvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Athrun Zala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zala has chosen Drowning Pool - Bodies as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Maurice Irvin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Athrun Zala!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Ren Mimura and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zala fails with an attempt to clinch.
Zala shoots and misses
and Irvin counters with a straight right hand.
Athrun Zala seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice defenses there by Zala.
Irvin throws a poor cross that misses

and Zala counters with a nice double leg into side control. Irvin won't be happy with that.
Irvin is looking to reverse the position.
Zala working away.
Zala scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Irvin to see if he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Irvin holds on to Zala's head and controls the position momentarily.
Irvin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Zala wants to control but Irvin is keeping him busy.
Zala lands an elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Irvin is not content to let Zala control the position.
Irvin manages to get back to half guard.
Zala is trying to control the action in half guard but Irvin is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Irvin wants to get back to his feet.
Zala moves nicely into side control.
Zala in side control, throwing shots but Irvin defends.
Irvin wants to get back to his feet but Zala drags him back down.
Zala content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Irvin gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Irvin is trying to get back to full guard.
Zala seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Irvin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Zala looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Irvin with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Zala breaks from Irvin's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Irvin is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Oh Irvin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Irvin is breathing heavily.
Zala scoring with strikes but Irvin is staying in there.
Zala has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Zala postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Irvin badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Zala around the waist but Zala pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Zala is the winner by TKO! Zala jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Athrun Zala!
