PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Barost Carrol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Malaipet Sasiprapa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sasiprapa has chosen Malaipet the Diamond as his entrance music. Malaipet Sasiprapa has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Barost Carrol!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Malaipet Sasiprapa!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carrol darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Carrol is looking to take a break and control but Sasiprapa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Carrol tries to pass to full mount but Sasiprapa defends it.
Carrol trying to control from half guard but Sasiprapa is working away.
Sasiprapa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carrol. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Barost Carrol has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Sasiprapa stuffs the takedown attempt from Carrol. Carrol gets slowly back to his feet.
Carrol is breathing heavily.

Carrol closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Sasiprapa quickly recovers to half guard.
Carrol seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sasiprapa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Sasiprapa is looking for a sweep. Carrol is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Carrol tries to pass to full mount but Sasiprapa defends it.

Carrol wants to pass the guard but Sasiprapa is defending well.

Carrol thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sasiprapa's head.
Carrol is looking to advance position but Sasiprapa won't allow it.
Carrol is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Carrol wants to control from the top but Sasiprapa keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Barost Carrol just wasn't active enough.

Sasiprapa pushes Carrol up against the ropes in a clinch.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Sasiprapa obliges.
Sasiprapa is looking to control Carrol's arms but Carrol gets an underhook and turns him. Now Sasiprapa has his back to the ropes.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sasiprapa tries a knee to the head but Carrol blocks it.

Carrol on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Sasiprapa trying to control the position but instead, Carrol has worked for underhooks and has pushed Sasiprapa into the ropes.
Sasiprapa tries to land knees in the clinch but Carrol avoids the damage to the body.
Sasiprapa using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Carrol has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Sasiprapa tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Carrol avoids it.
Carrol blocks an elbow strike.
Sasiprapa is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Carrol is defending well for now.
Sasiprapa creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Carrol tries for a takedown but Sasiprapa manages to get underhooks.
Sasiprapa stalling in the clinch but Carrol improves position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Sasiprapa is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.
Sasiprapa misses with an elbow over the top.
Sasiprapa misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Carrol.
Carrol dodges an elbow strike from Sasiprapa.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Barost Carrol will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Carrol counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Sasiprapa!
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Carrol cracks Sasiprapa with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Carrol will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Carrol really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Carrol throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Sasiprapa because Carrol loaded up on that one.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carrol can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sasiprapa is looking to escape.

Carrol has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Poor strikes thrown by Carrol there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Sasiprapa is in a horrible position here. Carrol smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Carrol is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Sasiprapa is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Barost Carrol overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Carrol, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
