PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dan Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kung Lao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lao has chosen Mortal Kombat-Techno Kombat as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hernandez misses with an uppercut.
Hernandez's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lao under the eye.

Lao looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hernandez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Lao cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Hernandez tries to lock up and control but Lao gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Lao has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hernandez's face.

Lao is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hernandez has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hernandez!

Lao changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hernandez tries to avoid it but Lao manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hernandez to the ground. Hernandez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Lao counters with a stiff right hand.
Lao is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Lao takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Hernandez just misses with a punch to the body.
Lao shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hernandez sprawls well. Hernandez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lao gets slowly back to his feet.

Lao throws a leg kick which misses Hernandez's front leg but catches the back leg as Hernandez tries to avoid it.

and Lao counters with a good low kick that Hernandez was not able to check.

Kung Lao showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Hernandez feints a jab promting Lao to slip. Hernandez then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lao slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Lao shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and Lao counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hernandez!
Hernandez is desperately trying to improve his position but Lao has a good base and remains in mount.
Lao has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lao pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Lao postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Hernandez in real trouble here! The ref calls for Hernandez to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
